よつばと！ 第一話 翻訳「ほんやく」しよう！

In this post, I'm going to show my attempts to translate Yotsuba&! a relatively "easy" manga that is often suggested for beginners. I actually began this project around December of 2019 but did not finish chapter one until my time in UMGC's Japanese 115 (and as a bonus I made it through chapter 2 shortly after). I bought two copies so I could write directly in this one as I tested my own knowledge, and while for translating this was generally pretty convenient it doesn't translate well to being scanned in. The colored ink I used is also not very vibrant/apparent in these images but everything written in green ink was completed during JAPN115, Spring of 2025.

For critics and learners alike, please note that I didn't often make attempts to "localize" the translated text and instead except for set phrases I'm very familiar with. At the time of these translations I'd completed studying Genki 1 in it's entirety and began study of the Genki 2 textbook.
